2/29/2024 0 Comments What is a township manager![]() ![]() The Board of Supervisors accomplishes its charge by adopting resolutions and ordinances. In accordance with the Second Class Township Code, the Board of Supervisors is charged with the general governance of the Township, including the execution of legislative, executive and administrative powers in order to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the community. The Supervisors are elected for terms of six (6) years. The Board of Supervisors serves as the elected governing body of the Township and is comprised of three members. The Township of North Fayette is classified as a second class township and operates under the Second Class Township Code as established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, there are two classes of Townships, first class and second class. Delegate to department heads such powers as the Manager may deem necessary for efficient administration.A Township is the oldest form of government in the United States, with decision-making power in the hands of elected supervisors.Assign and transfer administrative functions, powers and duties among and within departments, subject to the Charter and Administrative Code.Approve or prescribe the internal organization of each department.Establish working, personnel, vacation and sick leave schedules and appropriate records and reports. ![]() Maintain a continuing review and analysis of budget operations, work programs, and costs of municipal services.Approve all bills and vouchers for payment subject to preaudit and control as provided herein.Direct and supervise the administration of all departments of the municipal government and be responsible for the maintenance of sound personnel policies and administrative practices.The Manager sees that all ordinances, resolutions and policies of the Council and all state laws subject to enforcement by municipal action are faithfully enforced and executed. The Township Manager is the chief executive and administrative officer of the municipality. ![]()
